The Problem

Succession Planning and Exit Strategy

With no obvious successor in-house and following a 3rd party recommendation to the group board, a fast growing electronic component company approached Ramsey Hall to recruit a new Managing Director using Executive Search methodologies.

The incumbent Managing Director needed to manage his exit from the business on a day to day basis whilst still planning for business growth. At the same time the company needed to expand its global presence and therefore sought a candidate who had significant expertise in managing direct, agency and representative relationships in overseas territories.

The Solution

A combination of executive search and advertising was proposed. Following well over 100 conversations some 20 potential candidates were identified and, following psychometric assessment, were interviewed by the consultant. From there 5 were shortlisted and presented to the client with detailed interview and psychometric assessment reports.

The Result

The client had a choice of hires and chose a candidate who was capable of rapidly expanding their business overseas as well as in the UK.  The client recruited a candidate who could bring fresh input and ideas into the role.  As a bonus, the successful candidate already had a track record with a direct competitor.
