Job Information

CTO for the UK’s Composites Sector!

Since its formation in 2009 the National Composites Centre has outstripped all expectations.  Part of Bristol University and funded by a mix of private sector, government, European and University monies, the NCC is now established in a recently opened, state of the art composites research, development and manufacturing centre on the Bristol/Bath Science Park.

With a growing number of Tier 1 and Tier 2 partners the NCC currently has six years of ongoing funding and is expected to play a major role in the recently announced ‘High Value Manufacturing Catapult’ (HMVC).

To cement its continuing success the NCC is now seeking a highly talented Director of Technology:  a role that may be best described as being ‘CTO for  omposites for the UK’.  As such you will assume both the personal and technical leadership of the NCC’s existing, world-leading research and development team – and grow it.  You will also sit on the HMVC’s CTOs’ Forum.

To succeed in this highly challenging role you will need to be able to demonstrate industry understanding; strategic, technical and people leadership and the ability to command respect from some of the world’s most innovative companies.

Almost certainly you will have a composites background probably but not necessarily in aerospace.  Most importantly, this is a Products and Applications role rather than Materials; it is therefore essential that you can demonstrate personal experience of bridging the TRL 4-6 development gap.

The role attracts a negotiable salary, performance related bonus, car allowance, private healthcare, company pension and, where appropriate, relocation assistance.  It also offers the opportunity to play a globally important part in the rapidly developing composites sector.

If you believe that you have the sector knowledge, technical leadership and superb interpersonal skills we seek please send your CV together with a no more than one page long statement of your vision for the technical future of the composite industry in the UK and current salary details to Phil Boyle quoting reference s031889.

All applications will be acknowledge and treated in the strictest confidence.
