Hampshire, UK 01 July 2013 – Ramsey Hall, one of the UK’s leading talent management practices is delighted to announce that it has retained its Investors in People (IIP) status during a recent review of the HR standard by independent auditors, Inspiring Business Performance Ltd.

This news comes as the business continues to expand through its association with INAC, the international network of over 40 global search companies which Ramsey Hall joined 12 months ago. The business has also won a number of high profile contracts to supply senior managers and directors to businesses across the UK as well other HR related services such psychometric testing.

Third Corporate Manslaughter Conviction Should Send Warning Signals

Lion Steel has recently been convicted of corporate manslaughter and becomes the third such organisation to be successfully prosecuted.  They were fined £480,000 plus costs in July for the offence and face the damage to reputation and the tragic human cost which inevitably goes with the conviction.  Indeed, at least one of the other two convicted organisations went out of business as a result.

Lion Steel was charged following the death of an employee who suffered fatal injuries when he fell through a fragile roof at its site in Hyde, Cheshire in May 2008. The company admitted the offence earlier this month, part way through a trial, on the basis that all charges against its directors would be dropped (three men had been charged with gross negligence manslaughter and health and safety charges).

This tragedy acts a timely reminder to organisations who have yet to evolve Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) practices beyond mere bureaucracy and lip service into embracing behavioural SHE which encourages and involves all employees.

Our advice is to review your current SHE practices on two levels.  Firstly, decide whether SHE is a compliance issue or a cultural must, the latter we suggest is right.  Then look at the SHE practices of your organisation.  Do you have a SHE behavioural framework embedded which all employees ‘buy into’? Do you have proper SHE behavioural training in place at induction stage onwards? Do you properly measure and report on SHE issues?

Many organisations still cannot answer these questions positively and consequently are at higher risk.

Ramsey Hall is delighted to announce that Jane Evans has been appointed as a Consultant in its Talent Management Practice.  Jane is a specialist in assessment and in learning & development and will be working as part of  a multidisciplinary consulting team on a wide range of projects.

Jane was previously an associate of the business and prior to that was HR Manager for a well known South Coast aerospace manufacturer.

Phil Boyle Takes Up Prestigious Global Aerospace Position as President of the Royal Aeronautical Society

Southampton, UK – 22 May 2012 – Phil Boyle, the Managing Director of Southampton based HR Consultancy, The Ramsey Hall Group, has been appointed as President of the Royal Aeronautical Society, the world’s oldest and most prestigious aerospace organisation. Established in 1866 and with over 17,000 members worldwide, the RAeS is head quartered in London but has nearly 100 branches across the world.  A completely multi-disciplinary Society, the RAeS has members from each and every part of the aerospace sector.

Commenting on his appointment, Boyle said, “I am deeply honoured to become the President of the RAeS, one of the most prestigious roles in the world of aerospace and aviation. The general economy remains uncertain however, there is a general expectation that the pace and recovery of economic growth will fall. Whether you are an optimist or agree with the general consensus, it is fair to say that there are still tough times ahead. As we assess the market and work closely with clients to ensure that they have the talent and resources to meet the challenges ahead, we are increasingly asking “what do you understand about the ability and potential of your own talent?”

Progressively more organisations are looking to their internal resource pool for ways to increase their competitive edge. Whilst most organisations realise the importance of measuring current performance levels of employees, we have increasingly found that many organisations do not fully understand, or recognise, potential areas for development in their managers and leaders. When we consider, that by developing the talent of managerial teams businesses could transform themselves and, as an additional benefit, address longer term performance issues.

Objectively assessing the current and future capability of managers and leaders is an effective way of identifying the gaps between current performance levels and the future needs of the business. The Ramsey Hall Group is delighted to announce a strategic talent management partnership with BAE Systems Surface Ships and Xchanging. Having worked with BAE Systems over a number of years, Ramsey Hall Group has been chosen to provide a comprehensive review of the talent within its Surface Ships Support business. The objective will support BAE Systems Surface Ships in the delivery of ‘Support Operational Excellence’, for which Xchanging will provide training and development in the use of the more rigorous methodologies and tools of Six Sigma and its pragmatic integration with Lean methodology.

This is an exciting development programme for BAE Systems and Ramsey Hall, who will be running a series of Capability Development Centres that will identify any individual, team and organisational learning and development requirement that will enable the business to move forward and meet the challenges of the future.
